Elephant in my Handbag is an independent online fabric shop based in Hawkhurst, Kent.
We sell fun and funky fabrics, sewing patterns, craft kits, haberdashery and trimmings online to customers around the world. We occasionally serve visiting customers by appointment.
Motivated self-starter required for rapidly growing online fabric retailer. Based in Hawkhurst, Kent. You will join a small team of happy, busy people with a good sense of humour who work hard and have fun.
Duration: Part time – Initially 20 hours per week Monday to Friday
Holiday: 20 days pro-rata
Pay: £9 per hour

Picking orders and accurate cutting of fabric to fulfil online and in person customer orders
Neatly package, prepare and quality control customer orders ready for postal dispatch
Pre-cut and measure panels and fabric bundles
Answer customer questions and queries in a polite and friendly manner via multiple communication channels including e-mail and telephone
Communicate problems immediately to business owner
Ensure fabrics are replaced in the correct location
Listing new stock arrivals on online platforms (training will be provided)
Social media engagement to include Instagram and Facebook
Keep cutting room and office clean and tidy
Occasionally communicate to customers via phone and email if there are problems
Any other ad hoc duties as required
Key skills required
Dressmaking, quilting or any other relevant sewing experience
Computer literate – to include experience on Social Media platforms including Instagram & Facebook
Attention to detail
Able to work on own initiative
Positive and proactive problem solver
Good written and spoken English
The job can be physically demanding as it will involve lifting fabric bolts/mail bags
Must be happy to use a rotary cutter at a cutting table
